How To Count Using The Visayan Languange From 1 to 100

Kumusta mga amigo?

How are you my friends?

Today I will teach you HOW TO COUNT USING THE VISAYAN LANGUAGE from 1 to 100

When counting in ordinary ways. Like counting how many pencils, ducks, trees, people you use these:

1 - isa
2 - duha
3 - tulo
4 - upat
5 - lima
6 - unom
7 - pito
8 - walo
9 - siyam
10 - pulo

There are four pieces of pencils on the table. In Visayan we say it - Naay upat kabuok lapis sa lamisa. (correct usage)

It's incorrect if you will use the word KWATRO instead of UPAT.

Example of incorrect usage: Naay KWATRO kabuok lapis sa lamisa.

Note:

Naay means There are/is
Kabuok means Pieces
Lapis means Pencils
Lamisa means Table

Another example:

a. There is only one person I love and that is you. - Isa lang jud akong gihigugma ug ikaw lang na.
b. I saw them both at the park. - Nakit-an nako silang duha sa park.
c. The three roses means I Love You - Kaning tulo ka rosas nagapasabot nga Gihigugma tika.
d. Please place four pieces of chair on the living area. - Palihog pagbutang ug upat kabuok lingkuranan sa sala.
e. You are candidate number five. - Ikaw ang ika lima nga kandidata.
f. Fill 6 cups of water on the pan. - Butangi ug unom ka baso nga tubig ang kalaha.
g. There are seven people inside the room. - Adunay pito ka tawo sulod sa kwarto.
h. Please give me eight pieces of paper . - Palihog taga-i ko ug walo kabuok papel.
i. Naruto has nine tails. - Si Naruto adunay siyam ka ikog.
j. You can only open ten gifts. - Na pulo lamang ka regalo imong ablihan.

In money matters, the counting is different.

1 - piso
2 - dos
3 - tres
4 - kwatro
5 - singko
6 - saiz
7 - syete
8 - otso
9 - nwebe
10 - diez

You can use this counting in both ways: money counting and the ordinary way of counting things.

Usually you there's a preceding word TAG before the desired number you want to use it in prices.

Example:

a. Gil: How much is this apple?
Vendor: This apple cost 10 pesos each.

Translation: Gil - Tag pila ning mansanas?
Vendor - Tag diez pesos ang isa ka mansanas.

* Mansanas means Apple

b. The fare is worth ninety-five pesos.

Translation: Ang pamilite kay tag nubenta'y singko pesos.
